Can your landscape survive the summer heat with only 30 minutes of water a week?
Stage 2 drought restrictions have been implemented in Southern California, starting in June or July, depending on your water district. With nearly 60% of our water consumed by outdoor use, the new restrictions center on landscape irrigation.
Level 2 measures mean that homeowners are allowed to irrigate only 3 days a week in summer for a maximum of 10 minutes per irrigation zone per day. In addition to the mandatory conservation measures, homeowners and businesses will face large water rate increases - prices are slated to rise nearly 20% in 2009 - with fines and penalties for water waste.
Protect your landscape investment.
Smart irrigation controllers from ONteriors® make it easy to comply with the new restrictions, save water AND protect your landscape.
Conventional irrigation controllers operate on time-based schedules regardless of changing weather. Our smart irrigation controllers use plant, soil and weather data to adjust the watering schedule daily. That’s why all San Diego County water authorities have waived the 10 minute daily watering restriction for homes equipped with weather-based smart irrigation controllers. In some districts, such as Olivenhain Municipal Water District, irrigation schedule restrictions are completely waived if you have an approved smart irrigation controller installed.
Save money.
In addition to reducing your outdoor water consumption by 25% or more, some water districts are offering rebates of $25 per irrigation zone (e.g. $225 on a 9-zone system) towards the purchase of qualifying smart irrigation controllers, such as the WeatherTRAK ET. Rebates vary by water agency and are subject to change.
Of course, the biggest savings come from protecting your landscape and the value of your property. |
